The Mahabharata is the most popular work of Indian classical literature written five thousand years ago by the great sage Vyasadeva. It tells the life story of five heroic brothers, the Pandus, who were destined to rule the earth. However, their cousins deprived them of the kingdom, sent them into exile, and the whole dispute culminated in a fratricidal war. One of the main characters of the story is Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, by whom the Mahabhārata is considered a sacred text. An important part of this epic is Bhagavad-gita, the jewel of India's spiritual wisdom on karma, reincarnation and yoga. Translated from Sanskrit by Krishna Dharma, a Vaishnava scholar and teacher of ancient Indian literature. It belongs to the disciplic succession, the parampara, originating from Vyasadeva, the original author of the Mahabharata. He also translated into English another important work of Indian classics - the Ramayana.
