  • The Gospel of Jesus - JOHN DAVIDSON
Interpretation of the teachings of Jesus Christ in the light of the latest research on manuscripts from the Dead Sea and apocryphal and Gnostic writings, as well as the works of the most important Christian theologians, philosophers, mystics and church fathers.

Therefore, in order to better understand Jesus' words, it is necessary to decide on a much wider network that would go beyond the realm of the canonical gospels. This is the only way we will understand the meanings that are covered in these texts by later deposits. Therefore, another of the intentions of this book was to show Jesus in the context of the contemporary cultural and religious environment, especially in relation to the mysticism of his time. Because of this, I have focused extensively on material coming outside the New Testament.

It is a great fortune that, despite the efforts of early "orthodox" Christianity to destroy all evidence, much of the literary wealth available today from the earliest stages of Christianity has been preserved. Some such texts were discovered only fifty or one hundred years ago, and some of them have only been translated in the past two decades. And although it must be only a small fraction of what existed at the time, in many of these compelling documents, Jesus' statements, metaphors, and parables from the four canonical gospels are explained in such a way that it casts a completely different light on them. They also reveal a wide range of notions of Jesus that prevailed among early Christians.
